July 24th 2001 to July 31st 2001  Concert Tour to Armenia

In the summer of 2001 the Frankfurter Kantorei went on a concert tour to Armenia. This project has been initiated by the "Deutscher Musikrat" and named official German contribution to the "United Nations year of dialogue among civilisations - 2001" by the UNESCO. Furthermore it was the official German contribution to the celebrations of 1700 years of christianity in Armenia.

The main purpose of the tour was the cooperation with the Yerevan Chamber Choir, an ensemble of professional singers under the direction of Haroutyun Topikyan. The two choirs performed two concerts together in the auditorium of Gyumry and in the opera house of Yerevan. These concerts were a great success, celebrated by the audiences and the press. Both choirs performed several works alone and two works together. One of them was "Ter astvats", written for two choruses a cappella in Armenian and German by the leading contemporary composer of Armenia, Tigran Mansuryan. The sponsoring organization of the Frankfurter Kantorei, "Frankfurter Musikfreunde e. V.", had initiated the composition for this project.

The countervisit of the Yerevan Chamber Choir was in the fall of 2002.
